Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

Looking Forward...

I just came back from running a couple of errands (like having all of the salt washed off of the car. I guess this is the downside of our New Years Eve Snow). As I was driving back to the hospital I looked to my right down one of the neighborhoods and saw something that made my heart smile. There were 3 little girls stair stepped in height all skipping in a "straight" line down the sidewalk. How precious a sight! I could only smile in anticipation of my sweet Ashley Kate one day skipping down our sidewalk. I am looking forward to the day she learns to walk. I am looking forward to the day she learns to skip, carefree with not a worry or concern on her little heart. Oh, how I can't wait! I am looking forward to watching her grow up and seeing her become a little girl.

Ash has spent the afternoon laughing, smiling, playing, dancing, and "hopping in her boppy". She loves it when I hop around the room acting like a bunny. She does her little "hopping" at the same time. She wants to be mobile. You can see it in her eyes. She is getting stronger and stronger this week, so I don't think it will be too long until she builds enough strength to learn. When I came in the room this afternoon she was sitting up and she reached out for me and said, "Mama" for the first time in over a month. My heart was so blessed to hear her scratchy little voice. She is now napping and re-energizing herself for another round with Nan and the nurses tonight. She is too much fun.

If only you could see the difference in my Ashley from last week to this week your heart would be so encouraged. She is fighting off the infections and she looks better every day. God has brought her through another tough time and each time He does His grace brings me to my knees. I am more than humbled to be in the position that I am in. He has allowed me to watch miracle after miracle in the life of my daughter. I don't know why He chose me to love this little one, but I will forever be grateful.

I can just see Ash "hopping around" and it makes my heart smile. Oh, how I wish I could see her in person again. It won't be long, though; I just know it. God is good all the time! Please, please give her hugs and kisses from Grandma. I miss you!

I live in Omaha and wondered if once you are back to solo status here if you could use any help with running errands etc.
I have three children and stay home with them, but the two oldest are in school all day so the 2 year old and I are available to help out if ever needed.
I've been praying for Ashley for weeks, having come to your site from another (in the midst of it).
My husband is a Texas transplant so he loves to hear your stories about the food and weather.
Your mother's heart and strengtg are very impressive and the faith you have is so very evident.
Just thought you might need a local contact to help out... let me know if there is anything we can do for you.
