Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

Goodnight from Ashley

It is now 10:00 and our day in Omaha is over. Ashley is tucked so sweetly in her bed and is already snoring. Today has been a hard one to watch. After seeing Ash behave so awnry the last couple of days it has been difficult to see her slip back away from me. She is not feeling well today because of something but I don't know what. Her body is very tired and she has been sleeping most of the day. She does not want to be touched, held, rocked, sung to, or even talked to. She just feels yucky and if you approach her she begins to wimper. As long as we leave her alone she seems to be o.k. I hope that this will all pass by morning.

After she had her CPT treatment on her lungs she began to cough and throw up again. She did the same thing throughout last night. She panics as she coughs the mucus and holds her breath. This is very scary to her and to me. I am not able to rest completely for fear of her choking. She is breathing with a little grunting noise tonight, but she is sleeping so I am thankful for that.

We met a physical therapist who lives here in Omaha who knows our own therapist from Ambucs. Sue gave her our name and number and she came by to visit with us tonight. It was nice to get to laugh and talk about things with a new friend. It made our evening very pleasant. She said she would love to take me to the store when I needed a ride so we have made plans to run to the grocery store tomorrow while Aunt Rae watches our little Ashley. What a blessing it will be to not have to worry about how I will get to the store this week. God continues to provide and continues to bless me every day.

I will have to go now because someone just came out and said they have a new rule about us not being allowed to use any of the hospital computers. I am not sure when this rule began but the nurses are the ones who showed me where the computers were and told me I was welcome to use them anytime. I am not sure how I will be able to continue posting in Ashley's journal now but I must run because they are telling me too. I am so sorry to end so abruptly. Just know that we love each one of you for loving us and our Ashley and we thank you for another day spent in prayer for our little one. Take care.

Dear Father, we thank You for another day with precious Ashley. We pray that You will help her body fight off whatever it is that is making her feel so yucky right now. We pray that You would protect her as she sleeps, and help Trish and Ashley both to get a good nights rest. We also pray that the hospital staff will either allow Trish to continue using the computer to update Ashley's Journal and to read our notes of encouragement to her and the family or that You provide another way for her to use a computer. Fathr we love you and we just thank You for this precious family. In Your Name We Pray, Amen
