Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

Still Awake

It is 4:15 a.m. and we have not been able to sleep yet. Ashley is very nauseated tonight. She has been throwing up a very thick green bile from her tummy. She is a little rattly in her chest so when she coughs up it comes. She can not be laid down for fear of it going into her lungs. I have propped in a seated position with her arms restrained. Obviously it is not a good way to rest. She is absolutely exhausted and I am too. I so desperately wanted a good nights rest for us both. They have run x-rays and blood labs trying to see if they can find anything. So far there have been no answers. Everytime she drifts off to sleep she begins to cough and then she panics and has trouble breathing. I really have no idea what is causing this. All I can think of is the infection that is in her body is showing itself in several different ways.

I am terrified to fall asleep. I keep asking God to please just hold her close tonight so she won't choke. Things have got to get better for her. The nurses say if they start off with trouble they usually do better in the long run rather than doing well at the beginning and returning often with difficulty. I pray they are right. Only God truly knows what course Ashley's recovery will take.
I am sure He has a plan. Again I am trusting the One who knows her even better than I do.

Today is the volunteer launch at the church. I think I am a little nervous about it taking place without us there, but God knew the night we planned it that Ash and I would already be in Omaha even though we did not know. I pray that He will bless and guide each willing heart to do what is right according to His plan for Ash. I am already so thankful to those who will attend. I guess I will have to watch from a distance as He provides. I love you guys for loving Ash and for being willing to give of your time to help raise awarness and funds for Ashley's expenses.

May God bless each one of you. Hopeful to get a little rest at some point I apologize if I am rambling through this post. I will update through out our day.

You do not know me. I live in New Mexico now I am originally from Longview. Just wanted you to know that I have told several people about Ashley and your family. Know that people in NM are also praying for your family and for Ashley's speedy recovery. We will continue to pray. God Bless you all. Thanks for the updates.

I was so hoping and praying that you guys were able to sleep last night. I know that you all are exhausted in ways I could never imagine. Take peace in knowing how many are praying. I love coming to this site and seeing the counter jump every day. Over 6500 hits now. That is a lot of prayers! I pray that God will provide a good day for you all so that you can rest. Little Ashley is so strong.....she is one amazing little girl. I am so glad that God handpicked you all to be her family. You have an amazing love for this little girl, and a strong faith in our Almighty God. We love you guys and are constantly in prayer for you.
