Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

9/25/2007

Things are changing

Ash's blood pressure is too high.

Her oxygen sats are dropping. They want to put her on oxygen. For now I am just holding a little blow by in front of her nose to support her. Hopefully she will pop back up on her own.

She developed a cough yesterday and the congestion is much worse today.

We took a chest x-ray and it looks pretty good.

Her respirations are too high and she is breathing way too shallow.

Her kidneys have shut down(again). She is making very little urine even with the help of lasix. We think this is due to a VERY high FK level.

She is fluid overloaded making it difficult for her to breathe. Until her kidneys can pee off some of the fluid we are stuck in a hard place.

She is receiving and IVIG. As far as I can figure out that is some type of immunoglobulin to support her immune system while she is down. It is considered a blood product and is infused in much the same way.

I have no idea if anyone will talk to us about the results of the biopsies today. They did not know in rounds and so the likely hood of finding out today is pretty slim. Obviously that is disappointing.

Dave has left for the airport and so now it is just us girls.

I know our families are getting frustrated about the lack of information, but the truth is that we just don't know anything. I promise as soon as I know they will know and so will everyone else.

Is dialysis not an option? Especially if the fluid overload is the cause of so many other problems?
Praying for strength for all of you, and health for Ashley, and that you can feel the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

It IS frustrating not knowing what's going on, but obviously you don't intend it. I know you want to understand more than any of us what is happening. Even these short "still don't know" posts are helpful on this end. We are praying with you! God IS hearing us all -hundreds if not thousands. His plan is in motion, whatever it may be, and I so hope with you it is the one that we all want. Concentrate on Ashley. We know you will let us know when you can. Somehow it just helps to type it. Please don't feel pressured; save your strength for the decisions. Our prayers for you all are continuous. I wish there was more I could do.

No one can be more desperate for answers than you and Dave. We're praying that they come soon and that they are positive. Also, we're praying for her little kidneys to kick in to give her some relief and for you now that Dave has left. I pray that He will continue to give you the strength you need to take care of this precious baby right now!

Oh Trish I can't imagine what you are going through. I am praying so hard, for Ashley of course, and for you as well. I wish I lived closer to Omaha...I would be there to help. And yet I know Ashley (and you) have won the hearts of many at the hospital and they will be a support to you. The rest of us are holding you close in prayer. I just want you to know that you are a wonderful mother and an example to many. Love & prayers, Martha

Praying hard for all of you! I'll pray specifically for relief for little Ashley and for answers. I also pray for you, Trish, that you may feel the love that is surrounding your family. Praying for safe travels for Dave and praying for Allie and Blake while they are apart from their mother.

Holding you close to my heart!
Love to you all.

I found your blog through a friend. I couldn't remember if I commented before, so I thought I would again. I am praying for you and your sweet Ashley. I can't imagine what you are going through, but God knows and is walking with you through this time. I pray for protection as you girls are seperated from the rest of your family. And most of all, I pray for comfort and rest for Ashley. In Him, Elizabeth in Murfreesboro, TN

You are extremely patient to not be banging on the doors to know the results of YOUR baby's tests. They need to tell you ASAP.

Trish-

The post on "Gaining Perspective" was wonderful. You are such a great lady!

I am praying, praying, praying! Hang in there! Hold tight!

I know it's very hard to wait for answers after a procedure.

May Jesus hold you tight during this difficult time!

Prayerfully and lovingly,

Shari

Hey guys we are praying. I drove by your house today after seeing Glenda driving down the road. I just had to smile with thoughts of your wonderful family.
I have not been to check on you in too many days. Sorry for that.
I have sent requests to all of my praying friends.
Molly
