Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

Daily News

Today has been a really restful day for us here in Omaha. After such a long night Ashley and I have spent a good portion of the day resting. She had a very good morning, but is now becoming a little grumpy. She is working hard to try and pull her G-tube out of her tummy. This would not be a good thing. She has done this before and it is not pleasant. Her Aunt Kathy has been so good at holding her tiny hands so she can not get a hold of the tube. Ash is making a lot of progress with her respiratory issues. She has been able to cough a lot today without vomitting. Several nurses have peeked in and remarked that they think she looks so much better today. I am so grateful. I am praying for the infection to get better and better so we can attempt some feedings next week. This will be the big test to see if her new bowel is going to work. We have to take baby steps to get there.

I am anxiously waiting to here the report from home about the campaign launch this afternoon. This morning I was told about the beautiful flowers my mother in law order in honor of our tiny donor and family. I was so touched by the thought that went into that. I never want any one to forget the gift that they gave to my daughter. Ashley would not have lived much longer without their unselfishness at the most difficult time of their lives. I love our tiny donor with my whole heart and I have no idea who it was. I only know that I will forever be humbled and grateful to those who gave my Ashley a second chance at life. God has been so good to us and we are so blessed.

To all of you who attended today to support my tiny little one I love you more than you will ever know. May God bless you for your willingness to serve Him by loving Ashley. Take care and know how much your time in prayer for my daughter means to me. Love, Trish
