Update
I just got word from Omaha that Ashley will be staying in the ICU for awhile. We are hopeful that she will not need to go back on the ventilator, but if things don't turn around today the vent may be inevitable. One bit of bad news is that all of the progress Ash had made with feedings is lost. She will have to get over whatever this is that is attacking her and then she will have to start over at the beginning with the feeds. They told us this was going to be a roller coaster and I am starting to understand the analgy.
You all should be happy to know that someone has graciously allowed us to borrow a laptop and this should solve our computer problem when Ashley gets back on the pediatric floor. Thank you so much. Not only does your computer connect Trish to home, but it will also connect home back to Trish. You will no longer have to read through my boring posts!!
Allie and I will be traveling to Omaha on Wednesday night and we will get to stay through Monday. WooooHoooooo!!!!!! We are very excited to get to go see our mom/wife and our little Gherkin. We are really looking forward to the trip, but please start praying for Trish. She is one of the world's worst flyers. I told her we were flying out of Longview and she immediately said "is is a jet?" I told her no, it will be a turboprop and she responded "Allie is not getting on a plane without and engine!!" If it is not a jet, it does not have an engine in her book. So pray for her as she is already worried because I am willing to fly Allie on a plane without an engine. Really....what kind of father am I? You will be happy to know that from Longview we go to Dallas where we will switch airplanes and get one that does in fact have engines.
As for Ashley's friends, we have not heard anything today so we have no update at this point. Thanks for praying for Ashley and thank you to all the volunteers who are "workin' for the Gherkin!!"

We continue to pray for strength, for you and Ashley and the whole family!
If Ashley is starting over in some areas, then we'll just have to start the prayers all over too! If she is teaching us all to be more consistent prayer warriors, then that is not a bad thing! We will be in prayer for strength and the peace that passes all understanding.
My dad was a pilot and one of my fondest memories is of the first time I got to fly with him in his twin engine turboprop. I was very young and it was a cloudy, grey, dreary day. I remember my dad let me sit in the co-pilot's seat next to him as long as i did'nt touch anything. I was fascinated as the ground receeded and the buildings got as small as miniature toys. Then, suddenly, we couldn't see anything. It was dark and grey and I was really scared. My dad must have read my thoughts, because he calmly said, "This is what clouds look like on the inside. In a second, you'll see them from the top." And just as he said that, the sun broke out around us so bright and the sky was bluer than any blue I had ever seen. And it was sooo calm. I asked if we were in heaven. My Dad laughed and said no, but that it was a lot like heaven. Down below us,it can grey and rainy and sometimes we can't see in front of us to know the way. But, when we pray, God pulls us up above all of that into His bright warmth and peace. We can see forever so clearly - and we can rest.
Be assured, that we are all praying for you and your family. Praying that you can rise into God's presence and experience that rest and peace. Praying that Ashley can draw from His unlimited strength and He can breathe His gentle healing breath into her precious little body. Praying that David and Alli have a safe trip Wednesday. And praying that you all will be together again soon.
