Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

1/16/2007

She's Back

Ash is back in her room. They were able to do what needed to be done without opening the sternum and rib cage. They made a 2 inch incision in her chest and then gained access to the pericardial sac. After opening the sac they removed fluid and what was described as a 2-4 teaspoon size blood clot. That is huge on such a little pickle. I am so thankful they were able to get that additional pressure away from the heart. They placed a drain tube into the sac and plan to leave it there until they get less than 10cc per day of fluid from it. Trish sounds pretty good. At the time I last spoke with her she still had not seen Ash. Ash back in her room but they were getting her settled in. The doctor told Trish to expect Ashley to be huge with lots of swelling. We will update as more info becomes available.

Thank you to each who have been praying for our Gherkin this morning.

DAVE

Trish and Dave, I continue to read your blog at least once daily (sometimes more) as I have since finding you sometime in the fall and praying continually for little Ashley and your family. I praise God with you today that your little Gherkin (we also call our little girl, "Pickle"!) has had a better day so far. I live in Pa and will continue to stand in the gap with you! Laurie
