Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

3/05/2007

Some time this evening

We got the go ahead from our team to be discharged this afternoon, but we have decided it would be better to run Ashley's chemotherapy today instead of bringing her back in tomorrow for an 8 hour day at the treatment center. We will start it at 12:30 and finish by 7:00 tonight, then we will drive "home" to our apartment. We will not have to come back in until Thursday morning for lab work. If Ash does well with her chemo then we get to stay outpatient, but they have prepared me for a more than possible admit almost every other week. It all depends on the level of her ANC (white blood cells) and a fever spike. Any temperature of 100.5 is an automatic 48 hour admit NO MATTER WHAT. Our new prayer list will become very specific as we pray and ask God to protect Ash from infection and fever during her chemotherapy.

I am nervous, scared, intimidated, overwhelmed, excited, happy, giddy, thankful, and humble. What a mouth full! Can you imagine feeling all of those at the same time? I just hope we are doing the right thing by taking her out of here. She can't start kindergarten in this room!

I am going to run a load of things to the apartment and try to get back so I can rock her during her chemo this afternoon. Thank you SO much for praying for us today. It means more than you will ever know. Love, Trish

I am praying for His will, but also hoping for Him to grant your desires. What fun it will be for you to wake up in your very own place! I am praying for you Ashley! I know it's a lot, Sweetie, but it is so much closer to over. Love you. Aunt Nikki

Praying for you so much today. Filled with trepidation and joy for you and Ashley.

2 questions:
1. Will someone be able to come out and help you gals out (not that you haven't proven yourselves, but I imagine it will be difficult to manage the day-to-day living--grocery shopping, etc.)?

2. Will you have internet access and be able to update at your new "home"?

Thanking God for His mercy.

Blessings to you both,

Oh, Trish! I'm so happy!! And I am more than certain that God will give you absolutely everything you need to be able to handle this new environment, just as He has in the past! I pray His Holy Spirit will fill every nook and cranny of that apartment, to give you peace, to give you rest, to give you protection. Love and blessings!

Yeah! I am so excited for you both! I was wishing that I could just fly out there too and help you...I had it all figured out...I would bring my RN friend & I could clean, shop, do laundry, and let you sleep. I do however, have one germy baby that would have to come with me.That would never do for Ashley so I will just keep praying & hopefully your mom can come. Anyway you look at it, this it is so wonderful!!! Will be praying for everything to go smoothly, Ashley to adapt & for the strangeness to wear off quick of being out on your own. Also, for angels of protection to surround you and ward off sickness for you both. Love in Ohio, COlleen

How wonderful! I am so excited for you all! What a step toward Texas! Hope today's chemo goes well and that you will have several days at the apartment to just relax in your own space. I cannot wait to hear how it is all going. Love and hugs!

I hope all goes well and that you're HOME (well as close to it for now anyway) soon! I'm praying, praying, praying for no infections.

Praising God with you, that you are able to take Ashley to the apartment. What a wonderful day. I know you are nervous and intimidated, but God will guide you and give you the strength for each day as you need it! I will be praying for a smooth transition and that God will protect Ashley from infection. And still praying that God will use the chemo to whip the cancer!!

Trish:
I've tried to call into your room and it just rings and rings. I'd love to run out for you tomorrow to Target or the Grocery store and pick up whatever you might need.
My phone number is on the note I brought by a few weeks ago.
I bet you are getting anxious to get out of the hospital and just feel more like a real person.
Let me know if I can help.

How exciting to finally be able to leave. The fresh air in her lungs will probably make her feel better anyway. I pray chemo goes well for her today, and that you get to leave as planned.

It's probably going to be weird getting adjusted to the quiet... but I bet you'll love it... You and Ash can just veg out on the sofa and watch TV without beeps of all the monitors..
Yea......
And I'll wait on you to get connected to the internet...
so Dave, we are depending on you..
And the prayers will be pouring out as usual...
Blessings
Connie

I am so delighted that you can go to the apartment. I'm sure it will be a refreshing time to be outside the walls of the hospital caring for little Ashley.
