Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

Familiar Territory

Tonight I find myself in familiar territory. I will be waking up way too early and board an airplane headed south. I really hate knowing that I will be leaving Trish and Ash here. I think the worst part of this is just not knowing when they will be coming home. I just finished painting Ash's toes and will be probably staying up all night with Trish so she won't be so sad about me leaving. I don't know why she thinks this will make it easier, but I'm going to do it for her. Ash did not change much today, not any better, but not any worse. About the most exciting thing that happened was she was flipped to her belly to try and open up the lower lobes of her lungs. A CT scan determined they were both collapsed. Actually when exciting things happen around here it is usually not a good thing so we are happy she had a boring day. I hate leaving her here, but I take comfort in knowing that she has the best Mom in the world who will watch over and protect her without fail. Knowing she is in Trish's hands makes it a lot easier to head home.

Thank you for your prayers and support for the littlest pickle.

Goodnight,

DAVE

May you have safe travels. I will continue to send up prayers for Ash as well as the rest of the family. I can't imagine how difficult it is for you, Blake and Allie to be seperated from Trish and Ashley. May you feel the Fathers love.

So sorry that you have to leave part of your family behind. Thankful you can find comfort in the fact that Trish will be there with little Ashley.
I pray that you have a safe flight home & pray that Trish & Ashley will be able to go home again very soon.
That is so sweet for you to paint little Ashley's toenails. WOW! She is a lucky little girl! :o)
May the Good Lord continue to hold you all in His arms

I'm kinda glad you've had a boring day, hey, the three of you have had enough excitement to last for a while. Just snuggle up with your sweet wife on that "chair for one" and enjoy your last few hours with her. Let her rest in your embrace and after you have to leave she can just lean on Jesus.
Hopefully little Ashley will get those lungs re-inflated being on her tummy and if that is all the doctors have found and nothing else happens then the family of 5 could possibly be back together at home real soon. That is our prayer Lord.
Praying also that you have an uneventful trip back here to Longview.
Love and prayers~~~~Janiece

Always holding your family up to the Father, asking him to give you strength, the docs wisdom, the children peace and joy, and your husband contentment and patience.

I have had many many trials in my 48 years here; birth, death, widowhood at an early age with preschoolers to raise alone. I have learned as you have, my dear-
Jesus is enough. God bless you today, and the precious...

Hi Guys,

I am new to your website, I came across from "Especially Heather".

You will be in my thoughts, I hope things improve for little Ash soon.

I will look in periodically and see how things are going. I spent a few hours yesterday briefly looking back over your Archives to get the general background of your journey to this point.
I live and work In Perth Western Australia and have spent the last 24 years working in Neonatal Intensive Care.

Good luck to yourselves, your family and Ash.
Love Carolynn xx :-)

Dear Trish and Dave,
I am new to your blog, but I am a friend of Gwen, mom of Ivey.
Gwen told me about the difficulties facing your family today and I wanted to stop by to show my support.
I am also the mom of a special daughter, and have spent some time in the hospital with her.
Trish, I just want you to know, as you sit in that hospital room, surrounded by all the noises and smells and feelings that can make you want to scream, please know that you are also surrounded by the LOVE of all the moms out here in the world who understand. All the moms who have spend nights in chairs dozing but never sleeping, who have cleaned up in hospital sinks, wearing the same clothes for days on end, rarely eating, living on the fear and adreneline that comes when your precious child is in the hospital. Know that we are here for you, sending you our never ending love and support. Sending you the strength to get through these days moment by moment, minute by minute. We are here, and I hope you can feel and sense our love and support. Even when you feel so alone, please know you are not alone. Our love is with you. We understand.
Sincerely,
Sheila
