Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

2/07/2008

No Words

Our hearts are heavy as we prepare to transport from Shreveport to Omaha. Ashley has been placed on the ventilator and is in surgery now having a line placed.

They no longer think she has pneumonia, but have no idea what has invaded her lungs. The doctors in Shreveport were very honest and told us it is out of their realm of possible treatment.

The flight crew has been called and we should be in the air in about 3 hours. It is a 2 hour flight. Allie is on her way here to say goodbye and I know her heart is broken over her birthday that is fast approaching. Blake has chosen not to come. They are hurting.

You do not know me, and I do not know you except for seeing your family's information in the paper, on your husband's work billboard, and through friends who know you. I stumbled across your blog while reading someone else's. All that to say, my heart is breaking for your family right now. My family will be praying for yours. I pray that your time in Omaha will be short and will be successful. I pray that your "good days" will return quickly and you may all be together for your daughters birthday. May God bless, comfort and give the peace to your family that only HE can give.

I am so conflicted. Reading your earlier posts, it just sounded like Omaha would be the much safer choice. On the other hand, my heart breaks for the kids and for you two because I know your heart is so torn. Let me know if there is anything we can do to help with Allie's party planning while you are bogged down with so much going on. Or anything else at all. A place to stay, whatever. We are praying. --Nikki

Oh, Trish, I'm so sorry. I hope it turns out to be simply (as if there is any 'simply' about anything) the pneumonia peaking, and that your stay in Omaha won't be prolonged. If I get over there, I'll poke my head in and see if you need anything. You're all in my prayers.
