Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

8/05/2010

GOOD news!

Ashley Kate finally caught a break this admission and was hugely BLESSED this morning by the CANCELLATION of the bronchoscopy. The news is that her chest x-ray is significantly better this morning, "not out of the woods, not normal, but much better". I'LL TAKE IT!!!!! Anything to avoid another procedure being done on my girl.

We have a new therapy stating today called a "cough assist mechanism". It will force bursts of air into her lungs and then pull it out of her lungs. Yesterday they weren't supportive of this therapy thinking it would make her lung more ill, but today their minds have changed based on the films.

She has been off of oxygen this moring and breathing on her own in the low 90's. Not perfect, but so much better than 79-80.

There are times in life when it seems to rain, and rain, and rain. I begin thinking if only He would allow just a ray of light to break through those clouds, even just a glimmer for a moment, that I could continue in the storm. It doesn't mean the rain will stop or that the clouds will disappear, it just means He sees that I'm drowing and need a bit of encouragement. This morning He has encouraged my heart and allowed me to see that once again He is near. I am grateful. So grateful. Our sweet, sweet 5 year old baby is about to turn this whole thing around and I can't wait to see as they all stand back and shake their heads wondering just how she did it. What a testimony she could have if the Lord would allow her to survive this, re-transplant, and go on to grow up right before their eyes. I'm hopeful this morning. I truly am.

Thank you for every single prayer you prayed over her, over her lungs, and over this procedure that has now been canceled. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Now we are praying for complete lung capacity to open up and for her breaths to come easier and easier and easier.
