Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

3/05/2007

On their way....

WooooHooooooooo!!!! Trish just called from the car and they are on their way to the apartment. I can hear the nervousness and excitement in Trish's voice. One of the days we have been waiting so long for has arrived. Ashley has so many dates in her life that we celebrate and this is one that will be added to her list. She finally got out. Trish said when she left the room and began walking down the hall Ash was grunting and growling as if to tell Trish "this is where I have been wanting to go." Trish said Ash is sitting in her new car seat just being as quiet as can be. I bet she is just looking at the world go by outside the car windows and seeing so many things she has not seen in 5 months. How exciting it must be to be that little Gherkin. I love how she has absolutely no concerns or problems in the world. She just trusts. She trusts her Mom to take care of all her needs. She doesn't worry about what tomorrow will bring. She doesn't worry about how all that stuff is going to make it from the car to the apartment. She doesn't worry about how this or that is going to be paid for, she doesn't worry about if she will get an infection, she doesn't worry about how cold it is outside, she doesn't worry about how she looks, she doesn't worry about all the details, she just lives today for today. I think we could all learn a lot from the little people in our lives. We serve a God who tells us not to worry about all of those things. We just need to put our trust in him just as our kids put their trust in us.

I know I have some mighty big shoes to fill while I temporarily take over the journaling. I have come to really love to read the words Trish has on the blog each day. I have learned so much as God has used her to remind me of who He is. I pray that God would use me as He has used Trish to write Ashley's Story in such a way that it is honoring to Him. Thank you all for taking your time to check on a tiny (but getting bigger) pickle.

Dave

Wow awesome. I am so excited. I remember the day I took my Ash home after her first 4 months of life in the P.I.C.U fighting to survive. She is a brilliant Godly 21 year old young woman now, and I pray that for your Ash as well. I will miss trish's beautiful writings late into the night. I always come by every night at midnight before going to bed and pray for Ash and Trish. Please give them the message I will never stop praying.
May they rest in the arms of Jesus tonight in their new home away from the hospital.
I am happy for this next step in your families lives. Thankyou Dave for keeping us up to date on precious Ashley.

Hip, hip hooray! I'm so happy and excited for Trish and the Gherkin. I just know that God is wrapping His wonderful, big arms around those girls right now and holding them tight and that He will give them a good night's rest; how do I know that: Because that's exactly what I've prayed for and our God hears and answers those prayers! Oh, God is good all the time - and all the time, God is good. Praising Him tonight - praying for blessings at home, too with you, Dave, Blake and Allie! Love to all, Grandma

Another big step forward!!! Yeah Ashley! Prayers are being sent your way for rest, relaxation, and further healing for your tiny love. Please impress upon Trish that she is such a gifted writer..I can see some published work in her name in the future. Jesus give them rest and make the days seem to pass quickly for the children that she can't be with. Sweet dreams! Colleen

PTL!!! My heart skipped a few beats as I read your post!

Regarding the crib issue-I have one in Des Moines, but I have to see about how to get it there, if you can't find another to borrow. We have surgery Friday. Any ideas? My cell, if you need our crib, is 515-729-3326. It's a 2 hour drive, I just don't know if I can squeeze it in this week.

How exciting! I've just "known" y'all here on the blog for about 10 weeks - so I've never known Ashley out of the hospital.
I'm so excited for this new phase of her life! This is a big move.

Praying for peace for Trish as she becomes Mom and Nurse! And praying for Dave's blogging. :)

PRAISE THE LORD~~~~for this giant step. What great news~~~ASHLEY IS OUT OF THE HOSPITAL~~~~WOW~~~

Dear Gracious Heavenly Father, You are to be honored and praised for who You are. You are an awesome, loving Father, Creator of all things. We come before Your throne of grace with thankful hearts. Thank You for answered prayer, for Your abiding love and mercy. We pray for Your protecting mercy on Trish and precious Ashley tonight. Out from under the watchcare of the medical team at the hospital to a new place, their temporary home away from home. Give them assurance that You are with them during this part of their journey just as You have been with them always. Give them restful sleep to face their first day on their own.
Thank You for loving us, thank You for answered prayer. In the precious name of Jesus~~~Amen.

Our crib is being used currently by the 2 year old, but I'm sure I could find a pack and play crib if you need one still.
There is a used baby furntiture store right around the corner from your apartment on 120th street. I could try calling around if you'd like.
I'm still available to run errands too if needed. Just let me know.
