Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

Reflections

Ashley is now in recovery and we are waiting to be reunited...hold on the Dr. just came out...The Dr. just told us that Ash did fabulous and the central line went in very smoothly. It was strange sitting in the OR waiting room tonight. I realized that 359 days ago we were sitting in this very same waiting room not knowing if we would ever see our Ashley Kate again. When we arrived in that room almost a year ago it had 30-40 people in it all waiting for word on their loved ones. Each time the phone would ring we would hope for word on our Gherkin. Hour by hour went by and one by one the people left until eventually we were the ones left waiting. Tonight as I walked in that room we were the only ones in there and I was taken back to that night. It gave me the opportunity to reflect on all God had done in that little Gherkin's life. It is truly a miracle how far she has come. We are now sitting in the recovery room with Ash and she is looking really good considering the day she has had. We hope to get back to her room so she can get a good night's rest. Tomorrow they will biopsy her bowel and we pray that it will be as healthy and pink as it was when we were here 3 weeks ago and they told us not to come back for a year. Thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement.

DAVE

Made myself do a little housework before I'd let myself look again for an update. What a joy to see the good news that God did indeed bring her through that surgery!
Praying for rest for Ashley, for all of you, for good results and safekeeping tomorrow, for a turnaround for the better, for God's blessing of restored health.

Thankyou you both for keeping us so up to date, so we dont have to wait and worry.
Love you all

Praise to God. No more sticking that sweet baby!!! Praying the doctors there will be able to quickly discover the source of all the output and bring it to a stop.
I pray you and Trish can get some real rest today after the biopsy.

Glad the line is in & it went well. I am sorry she has had to be a human pin cushion this week. That is tormenting for a parent to watch. Hope things will get better for you guys from here. Praying...

We're praying for your Ashley every day and sent a prayer request email to everyone at work (Newman University).
Sophie's Grandma

Dear Campus Community,
The two-year-old daughter of a family friend of an NU community member is experiencing illness. Please pray for her comfort and recovery and for the safety of her family as they travel out-of-state to a transplant center.

Heavenly Father, watch over your child, comfort her and her family during this time of suffering. Please bless and guide the hands of the doctors and surgeons who attend to her needs and grant that she may be restored to that perfect health which it is yours alone to give. Amen.

Praising God that all went well with the central line placement. I pray that the biopsy will confirm a viral infection and not rejection. Our thoughts, prayers and love go out to you all.

Thank you Jesus that the central line went in smoothly and they will no longer have to stick and poke her. We'll continue to pray that the biopsy is healthy and she recovers from this "attack from the devil" quickly and fully.

I pray for Ashley on a daily basis, but right now, it's stronger than ever. I believe With the faith that your family has and the strength beautiful Ashley has, He will bring you all through this. I've recently been praying for her to build the strength in her legs, to be able to walk. And now I pray for her health and the whole family's strength. Keep your heads up and know that you all have prayers from all.
