Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

Being Normal

Being normal feels so great. We have had a terrific time together as a family these past few days. We didn't do anything overly exciting. We didn't go on vacation to great places, we didn't have any new exciting events take place, we just enjoyed being a normal family. It was so great to get together for meals. I loved watching Trish disappear into the kids bedroom at night because I know she was cherishing the time spent kissing their heads and praying with them as she tucked them in bed. It was wonderful to come home after work and find Trish and Ashley in the living room. I loved hearing about the game of monopoly Trish and the kids played today. I loved watching Ashley lay in her crib in her house and play with her remote. At one point we found she had settled in and was watching professional arm wrestling. I love watching Blake and Allie playing with their baby sister. I loved having the entire family together as we hung Christmas lights and decorated inside. Trish is so great at making this time of year extra special for the kids. Last night we crammed Trish, Myself, Blake and Allie all into our bed and we laughed together as we fought over the covers and jockeyed for a place in the bed away from the edge. Ash was not in the bed because we didn't want her to get run over, but she was in her portable crib right next just watching her crazy family. It is the normal things that have happened that just seemed to bless me these last few days. Nothing special, just being together, I am finding time much more special than I used to.

The girls are packing to drive back to Omaha tomorrow morning. Grandma has decided to go with them to help drive and that makes me feel much better about the trip. It was a short trip, but I am looking forward to a longer one in the near future. Ashley looked pretty good while they were home, but tonight when I came in from work I think she looked fabulous. She looks better than I have seen her since before she went into rejection. She had a twinkle back in her eyes and she was giving me hugs and giving me five. She was clapping and playing and I was very encouraged by what she was showing me. I hate that they are going back, but I will focus on the blessings of the time we had together and look forward to some more time soon. Please continue to help us pray Ashley home for Christmas. This will be her third and I would really love to see her spend it at home with her family.

Thank you so much to those who have helped us have such a wonderful weekend. Thank you Carmela for your generosity, thank you to a cheerful giver who cheerfulness is a blessing to each of us. Thank you to each of you who continue to come and be a part of Ashley's Story.

Goodnight,

DAVE

I am so glad you all were able to enjoy time together as a family. It's wierd how much we miss the little things when we're not home.. like being able to make the kids lunch for them before school.. or being able to sit in the carpool line and give them the first hug when they get out of school.. it's the little things that mean the most.

I 'm praying for you all as you drive back to Omaha. I'm so glad that you will have someone driving with you.. what a blessing!

I will also be praying that Ashley gets to come home for Christmas... even it's just for a short time like this one was.. I know it'd mean the world to your whole family.!

and you all left one thing out... how'd Ashley like Hope? and how is Allie liking her? Is she still just as excited about her puppy as she was the day she got it?

So wonderful to hear what a joyous family time you all had. To hear you remind us that it is the very simple things we take for granted that mean the most. The blessing of hugs and seeing your spouse walk through the door. Ordinary things in our day that we just don't realize that others would give anything for those moments.

I, along with I know so many others, will be praying all night long for safety for Grandma and the girls to arrive safely back to Omaha. I know they are traveling with angels encamped all around their car safely guiding them back to where Ashley will just progress so good that she will be able to come home for her lst Christmas.

She sure does thrive being around her daddy and her home, just like Trish says she does. It was so evident by your post tonight.

Smiling, thinking about how beautifully your home is decorated since Trish was able to lovingly do it for the ones she loves so much.

Hugs to you all and thank you so much for updating us and I too have been checking so many times a day ever since you all headed out to come back home.

YAY!!!! I am so glad that the visit was a good one. It is no wonder that Ashley looked fabulous today. She is home with her family. In so many ways that has to be one of the healthiest things for her. Maybe her doctors will see the difference in her when she gets back and know that she needs those visits more often. We will continue to pray for a Christmas at home. God Bless!

It is in these "nothing special" times that the most Special things take place. Your home must have been buzzing brightly with all the love going on inside. Twinkle in Ashleys eyes, how wonderful is that?! Hold on to the memory of this time firmly in your hearts as we continue to pray Ashley and Trish home for Christmas and for good. What a beautiful update, you have made my day. Praying for safe travel and for healing for Ashley.
I hope this was just the appetizer and that the main course is Christmas for all of you.

Much Love and Prayers,
Laurie in Ca.

What an incredible portrait you drew of you family melting into the precious moments afforded this week.

I am amazed to read about the fulfillment of SO MANY prayers from SO MANY friends you have never met!

The bit about Ashley settling in with professional arm wrestling was such a sweet image. I can imagine her with her leg cast over her propped-up knee, arms behind the head...too cute.

Have a safe journey back, Trish...and we'll pray for a short stay on THAT side this time!

Tearfully rejoicing!

Would you please pray for Chris' Mom, MaryAnn? She's in Longview Regional and had back surgery. She's 75 and has had quite a difficult recovery so far. Thanks so much! It is difficult not being able to see her right now. Colorado seems a little farther than usual.
Much love and prayers for Ashley,
Holly

It thrills my heart that you guys had such a special time together. I really think that being anywhere but a hospital environment can sometimes be the best medicine! I am just so glad you had this time together.

It just gives you something else to look forward to in just a short time! I have all the hope and faith and God that He can send you guys home for Christmas!

In Christ-
Amy and Kyle
