Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

2/22/2008

Bye Bye Vent!!!

They just extubated Ash at 2:15. Woohooo.... So far she is looking really really good. She has only been off for 15 minutes but she is having oxygen saturations of 100 on 2 liters of O2. That is a much better start than she did last Sunday.

Ash personally does not seem as excited about this adventure as I do. I guess that is because she is the one with the really sore throat and the holes (chest tubes) in both of her sides. In rounds this morning they did mention perhaps taking the chest tube out of her right side today. I do hope that happens because it will be one step closer to her coming home.

Please be in prayer specifically for Ash's ability to breath today. Let's pray that she can stay off the vent. If she can make it then we will be out of here and back home before to long.

Now it's off to the laundry room for me. Does a grown man folding a bunch of pink blankets and all things pink baby clothes make him a Nancy boy? I hope not.

DAVE

Well done Ashley! We only found your blog this week, and I spent two LOOOONG evenings reading it from start to finish! You're an amazing little girl, and you have an amazing family to look after you... but you probably already know that! My youngest son, Charlie, has had those nasty chest drains in just like you, and I know he didn't like them at all, so here's hoping your doctors can take them out soon so you can go home. Keep hanging in there, little darling, you're a real star! We're looking forward to keeping up with your story!
Lots of love is sent to you from Cardiff, UK XXX

No Nancy Boy here Dave, you are just a fantastic husband to Trish and daddy to your kids! Such fantastic news about the vent being out and I am praying Ashley flys and breathing is normal. Praying for the chest tube to come out too. This is just so great. Prayers continue for both of you and for Ashleys healing and heading for home again. Thank you so much for letting us know. Have a wonderful afternoon with her.

YEAH!!!! Go Ashley. I am so happy to hear that the vent is out. Now for the chest tubes and then its HOME I assume. I couldn't be more happy. I don't know if you have time to read all these, but if you do, I am assuming Trish made if home okay? I have been praying for an easy calm flight for her today because I know how scared she is of flying. I will continue to pray for all your needs. God Bless...Leigh Ann

Father God we pray her lungs continue to heal and dry and her chest tubes be removed very very soon. Yay Ashley!!!! Praying you are still breathing strong on your own and that it stays that way. And Dave, it makes you more of a man that you can wonder about being a Nancy boy, but still love your daughter enough to fold her pink clothes. What a good daddy you are! :) I imagine that Trish will get a kick out of that question though.

No Man is so Great, as the one that bends to help a child!
I think you are a very strong family , you take ang give your strength to each other. That is what makes a family .
A Nancy, you will never be..
I myself think all men should fold a baby's clothes sometimes, maybe then they could touch on a gental side they are missing!
I am so glad Ash is breathing so well now, Prayers continue in my home for her . How is the Party going? Can't wait to see pictures!
Brightest Blessings to ALL...
