Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

2/14/2008

Dear Daddy,

I'm sending you a Valentine. Did you get it? Do you know what it is? I bet your wearing it right now. Have you guessed what it is?

Since mommy and I are so far from home I thought that I would send you something to make you smile. Did it work? I'm thinking about you today because everybody already knows that I love you more than anybody. Thanks for choosing me, daddy. Thanks for choosing to love me. Love, The baby gherkin

p.s. Mommy is thinking of you too.

Ya know, I think she looks just like her daddy!! God most certainly knew JUST what He was doing when He gave her to you!

She is beautiful!! She is also so very loved!!...you can see it in this picture..she knows it too!!

I believe that God is going to heal her little body....you keep doing what your doing, Trish, I believe that God is allowing her to hear you...even if you don't feel like she can.

I would like to share something with you: my paw paw had Alzeihmers (spelling?). He lost the ability to swollen at the very end of his life and the family decided not to do a feeding tube. He had gotten to the point that he was just breathing but didn't recognize anyone, hadn't spoken in years, and slept 23 of the 24 hours of the day. I went to see him when they admitted him to the hospital and told us that it would be a matter of days before he passed away. They told us that he was in a coma and would be until he passed away and therefore he did not know we were even there.

I decided to pray with him. So, I took his hand and I begged our Lord to show His mercy and not allow his death to be long and drawn out. I finished by saying, "We love You, Lord, so very much and it is in Your Son's name that we pray. Amen."

Trish, I was holding my paw paw's hand and when I finished praying, he lifted BOTH of our hands STRAIGHT up into the air! HE HEARD ME!! Even though we were told he DIDN'T know we were there, he would never know..the Lord blessed us and indeed he DID know we were there!

I apologize for the length. I just wanted to tell you to keep talking to her and doing ALL of the things you are doing to let her know you are there. I truly believe, even if she can't respond to tell you, she knows!

The Lord gave me such a blessing in allowing me that experience with my paw paw and I hope that by me sharing something so very personal to me, the Lord can comfort you.

Always in prayer...
Amy and Kyle
