Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

Baby Steps

Hard work. That's all there is to it. For our sweet Ashley to learn to take those first few baby steps this is what it will take. Today she stood(weight bearing) on her little feet for the first time in her life. It was painful, but it was BEAUTIFUL! She is working so very hard. There are many tears (from her and her from us), but the reward will be worth it. As we have learned over the last couple of years there may be pain involved in what you are called to do, but the Father is there willing to equip you with the strength that you will need. We saw her do things today that we were not sure if we would ever see. She held herself up on her arms, she went from a seated position(with a lot of help from Mommy and Ms. Sue), and she stood on her feet. We are so proud! Today was a success in the life of our sweet Ashely Kate. With a lot more hard work she just might learn to take those baby steps some day. As soon as we let her sit back down she was all smiles. I am so thankful for the spirit God has given to her. Her strength and beauty continue to bless us on a daily basis. Thank you for your continued prayers on her behalf. She still has a long way to go, but I believe she is going to get there. Take care. Trish

That is amazing! Just to think back over certain days, when just another breath seemed the biggest of miracles (and was!) She looks so very determined and eager to please Daddy. It must be amazing to watch. I can just hear the celebration when Ashley stood up. And I can't believe that mouth full of teeth! When did that happen? Good work, Ashley!

OOOHHH those sweet cheeks! What an awesome day for you guys. God is so good and she is so precious. You know that verse about how the people go out sewing with tears, but come back reaping with joy? That is your family all the way...tears may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning. One day when she is walking she will look at those pictures with the most joyful smile and be so thankful for you all as her family, the doctors and therapists that help her and for her Almighty God! Have an awesome night. Sunshine

It's not original, of course, but it's what comes to mind:
Ashley,
I hope you dance.

Oh Trish,
What amazing pictures those are!! I have never in my life, seen the look of determination, like I do in Ashley. She maybe upset, but you can see through that..and see how determined she is! She has always been determined! Determined to live, and now determined to walk, and talk, and grab, and play!!! I'm praying for these little miracles to continue. Thank you for sharing this slideshow with us!
