Ashley's Story

She will leave fingerprints all over your heart

A Girl and Her Dog

The quality and the sound of this clip isn't that great, but the vision of Ash actually playing is the best. I was so thankful to look over and see that she had picked up Blue and was shaking her and loving her and playing with her. That's progress! If you look close enough you will see a grin on that face. It doesn't last long, but it is there. Little by little she begins to get her strength back. I really believe that it won't be long until we are allowed to start feeding this little one and then watch out cause we'll be ready to go home. I can't wait!

So the little camera thing is going to take some work. I am clue less! I was really, really trying. I did manage to get it to work for a few moments. Long enough for me to see those amazing people I get to call my kids. They are truly fabulous. I love them not only because they are my kids, but because they are incredible people. If you don't know them then I think it is easy to criticize us and our decisions, but if you do know our Blake and Allison then I don't need to go any further. God has really prepared their hearts and without the work He has done in them all these years they would be struggling. His plan for our family is precious and I am so grateful to be a part of it.

Dave and the kids are coming to visit. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. They will be traveling all night Tuesday and arriving in the early morning hours of Wednesday. They get to stay until Friday around noon, and then they will fly home. I am really looking forward to seeing them, hugging them, and loving on them. I can't wait to sit up late into the night catching up on all that is going on with each of them. Ash and I miss them so much.

So tonight Ashley Kate is snuggled in next to her Blue. I am so glad she has something to love through all of this. She just lights up when she sees that puppy. She sleeps for now, but her IVIG did not show up today and they still want her to have it. So she will be getting her vitals taken every 15minutes for the next 3 hours and she is not going to like it. I hope it doesn't come for a few more hours so she can at least get a little rest. As I type I am listening to those sweet sounds she makes while she is sleeping. Its almost sounds like she has something to say. I could listen to her breathe and squeak all night long. What an amazing God we serve. Our baby breathes effortlessly tonight and I know it is by His hand. Thank you for praying for us today. We love you guys. Good night. Trish

We continue to pray for you guys and I am so happy to see the precious angel playing with Blue. What an answer prayer and such a reminder to all of us how faithful our God is. I will be counting down the days with you until you are able to see your family and have them there with you. Seeing the bond your family has--this will only speed up Ashley's progress. Thanks again for sharing your heart and always remember how many lives you have blessed by doing this. Good night! Mistie in Lubbock

Yep, I saw the grin and it was so cute. How precious to see her in motion. What a blessing to hear that she is breathing without struggling. And that left leg kicked up over the other one, this girl is a master at the kicked back poses. Have a wonderful nights rest Trish. Ashley would too if they weren't bugging her but it is understandable. Allie and Blake are definitely two precious kids to understand what must be done for their baby sister. You and Dave have done a wonderful job of parenting and they are so ahead of most when it comes to understanding lifes ups and downs. Praying for the Christmas miracle of the Adams being together at home.
Love, Laurie in Ca.

yes, it is as if ashley started to grin and remembered to put her "game face" back on! what a little treasure she is! and what a wonderful reunion you and your family will have this week! your husband is a jewel to drive all night with the kids. what a great adventure for them and what a memory! if i were a hairdresser, i would fly to omaha and do your roots...if i were a manicurist, i would fly to omaha and do your nails....if i were a makeup artist i would fly to omaha and do your makeup....if i was jenny craig-ok, let's not go there.....however, i am just a long-distance prayer warrior from texas who knows that God is putting a special glow on your face and twinkle in your eyes and that is ALL your family will see when they arrive! sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite (i used to sing that to my 31 yr old daughter when she was a baby). jan431

I am so glad I checked in just one more time! The smile started in her eyes, you could see that little glimmer and then the smile. I so loved it!
That girl could play the piano, type or do sign language with those toes! They were just a moving. What a blessing to see her moving!
Wow! Something for us to smile about!
Thank you for sharing this video!
Such a praise!

Hey Trish,

Great plan! This give you a car to have a day of beauty with Allison. Most importantly, it gives you a "get away" vehicle when the time comes. (Which is one day closer, today, than it was yesterday.)

Hi Trish - this is so great to see! I didn't have to look hard to see her smile! Precious!

Is Ashley allowed to have coloring books and things to play with while she is there like that? I want to send you the cd and I would like to send Ashley something to open as well.

Thank you for sharing with us! Have a blessed day!

I need to apologize to you. I linked another blog in a comment yesterday. This other blog had an AMAZING post and I thought it would help you not feel so "down" - but the more I considered it and the more I prayed about it the more I realized I was wrong. You probably just needed to blow off steam and have people pray for you. So I hope that you realize how precious you are! I deleted it and want to apologize. Sunshine

Blessings are all around and what a blessing it will be to the entire family when you are all together next week. I will be praying for safe travels. I am so thankful that they are getting to come. Continuing to pray for rest and comfort.

I think my two-year-old little boy is infatuated with Ashley! He saw her pictures sitting up in bed, and he kept saying "Baby awake! Baby awake!" Then I showed him her little video with Blue and he was completely mesmerized! And who wouldn't be? She is so beautiful! I'm glad she's doing at least a little better, and we'll keep praying for her to be completely healed. God bless you today!
